Sustainability -Environment Club
Join us each week as we engage in activities dedicated to supporting sustainability and recycling. Together, we’ll explore ways to care for our environment and appreciate the beauty of nature. We want to collaborate with families and take meaningful steps toward saving our planet, one action at a time.

Focus Activities
What is a Focused Activity?
A focused activity is a planned, purposeful learning experience where an adult works with a small group of children, or an individual child, to develop a specific skill, concept or area of learning.
At Lilly Brook, focused activities are planned from our observations of children's interests, developmental needs and identified next steps. They provide opportunities for adults to intentionally introduce new learning, model skills, ask meaningful questions and support children to develop their understanding.
Focused activities are not about children simply completing a task or producing a particular end product. The emphasis is on the learning process and the skills children are developing through the experience.
During a focused activity, adults will:

Introduce or revisit a specific skill or concept.

Use children's interests and experiences to make learning meaningful.

Model language, skills and appropriate techniques.

Ask open-ended questions that encourage children to think, explain and problem-solve.

Adapt the activity to meet individual children's developmental stages and needs.

Encourage children to make choices and take an active role in their learning.

Observe children's responses and progress.

Extend learning through appropriate challenge and follow-up opportunities.

Use the information gained to identify next steps.
